About Me…so nice to meet you!

Dear Wannabe Quilter,

I am a maker. A maker of almost every craft imaginable. About 3 years ago I discovered the art of hand quilting. Oh I have been around quilting most of my life. You see, I have a heritage of quilters on my family tree. But for me, I discovered that I had a talent and wanted to use that talent to help others. It took a while for me to find out what style of quilting I loved and it took a lot of practice to discover my quilting design style.

I am a self taught quilter. You may see a bit of European style tucked into my quilt designs like red and white swiss flags, Jane Austin inspired pastel quilt blocks with yo yo or appliqued flowers because I studied abroad for 6 months in Austria while attending Brigham Young University and traveled the world!

I am an imperfect quilter. Yes you read that right. I am not afraid to say it. I have used this to my advantage because it gives my quilt blocks no bounds.

I created my own style of bespoke applique (a slight twist to the methods out there). My techniques for raw edge and needle turn applique make raw edge pop and promises to make needle turn easier than turning the edge under and getting it to stay under permanently. Wink, Wink.

I love to add some comfy needlework here and there in my quilts. It’s a dash of whimsy and who can’t use a dash of whimsy in their life! It’s homey looking like sitting by the fire and stitching kind of whimsy.

I get to use my crafty imagination when designing quilts. I think every quilt you make is a work of art. So I think of myself as a quilt artist, quilt designer, & a giver of quilts. I tend to give my quilts away more than I hold on to them.

Hand stitching can be very calming. Well… it can actually change your life. When you get in the flow (stitching along fully engaged heart, mind, and body in your stitching not thinking about any thing else) it can help you let go of stress, find it very rewarding and satisfying even if you do it only a short time every day. It can whisk you away from the cares of the world and help you accomplish something for the day…a little at a time. A healthy coping skill.

I am married to the man of my dreams…our family of 6 children and (8 grandchildren) our forte and our home a fortress against the storms of life.

Oh and one more thing… I follow the Master maker Jesus Christ. He has taught me so much about me and others and how to be my best. He has changed my life for the better and does so every day. For that I am truly grateful.

So glad you are here!
